A Variety of Massage Creams Can Meet Diverse Needs

news

facebook digg twitter linkedin icio

If you have been in practice as a professional massage therapist or bodyworker for a good number of years, you may have a nice array of favored massage creams you always keep on hand in your session room. Hopefully, most veteran massage therapists and bodyworkers have had a chance to sample and test a variety of massage creams over the years, in order to determine exactly which kinds of massage creams they like best.

Of course, given the fact that new and improved massage creams seem to become available on a fairly regular basis, the sampling and testing of massage creams could continue on if a massage therapists or bodyworker is committed to staying up to date on the latest and greatest massage creams.

For most practitioners, however, there does seem to be a middle ground—keeping a chosen few massage creams in the cabinets of the session room to use on a regular basis, but also venturing out and sampling new or different massage creams now and again, as the need arises.

If you are wondering why a massage therapist or bodyworker would want a variety of massage creams in his or her session room, rather than just one go-to massage cream for every client, the answer is simple—different massage creams may be better suited not only to different clients, but also to different touch techniques.

For example, a massage therapist or bodyworker may stay stocked with a massage cream that does not contain any fragrances or synthetic ingredients. This would be the massage cream the practitioner would use if a

client reported a sensitivity to fragrance or synthetic ingredients on his or her intake form. It would also be a good massage cream to use if the practitioner is uncertain about how the client might respond to one of the bolder massage creams in the cabinet.

However, one of those bolder massage creams could be just right for another client, such as one who reports insomnia and high levels of emotional stress. In this scenario, a massage cream that contains a nice blend of lavender essential oil might prove the perfect enhancement to the relaxation of a hands on massage therapy or bodywork session.

As mentioned previously, diversity in one's supply of massage creams can also come in handy for those practitioners who use diverse techniques. A massage therapist who practices both deep tissue and lighter relaxation massage may want to have massage creams that are geared to these two ends of the touch spectrum—one with more friction and one with more glide.

Throughout the years, as a massage therapist or bodyworker gains more and more daily experience with different clients, techniques and massage creams, he or she should get better and better at knowing what kinds of massage creams to keep on hand and what to look for in a new or different massage cream.

The perfect time for sampling and testing other massage creams may be when you are getting close to running out of one of your massage creams, or when you find yourself wishing you had a massage cream to suit a particular purpose.

Shed Light on Your Massage Cream

news

There are so many ways you can use massage cream to enhance your business. The key to taking what seems like a minor detail and turning it into a stepping stone toward a better practice is simply tapping into a more creative mind-set. With a few brainstorming sessions, you should be able to come up with myriad ways you can use massage cream to keep clients coming back for more and telling all their friends.

Here, we will outline a few basic approaches to boosting business or otherwise improving your practice with the strategic use of massage cream. The good news is you do not have to make an extremely expensive purchase to add value to what you do as a massage therapist or bodyworker. You only have to think outside the box, with a focus on massage cream, which is a relatively inexpensive item.

One of the first ways you might wish to begin using massage cream to the benefit of your client and your bottom line is simply by taking your massage cream "out of the shadows," so to speak. There are quite a few practitioners out there who never let their clients know a single detail about the massage cream they are about to slather on their skin during the massage therapy or bodywork session. By sharing information about the massage cream before the session starts, and in your practice literature, you will be letting your clients know they are about to be pampered even more than expected.

For example, if you make it a point to purchase and use only those massage creams that

contain all natural and organic ingredients, this would likely appeal to clients, who may be comforted by the fact that they will not be absorbing any synthetic chemicals or fragrances through their skin. The easy act of sharing this information, which would have otherwise gone unnoticed, can boost the value of your services in the eyes of your clients.

Of course, this same example can be applied across the board to all kinds of high end massage creams, such as those that contain essential oils, powerful moisturizers, pain relieving ingredients or other such beneficial ingredients. Be sure to tell each client about the massage cream you are about to use, and publish a list of these benefits in any marketing material for your massage therapy or bodywork business.

Another great way to use massage cream to the advantage of both your clients and business is by occasionally offering small samples of certain massage creams to your clients before they leave. This can be especially helpful when you work on a client who has a particular issue that could possibly be relieved through the use of the massage cream.

For example, if you work on a particularly sore client, you might choose to use a massage cream that contains a pain-relieving element, such as menthol or Arnica montana. By giving your client a small sample of this cream as he or she leaves your practice, you can help that client extend the pain-relieving benefits that were achieved during the session.

Pompeian Massage Cream - The Gibson Girl's Guide to Glamor - Yes

I have often seen old advertisements for Pompeian Massage Cream and old texts recommending it. I was never clear, though, on just what it actually was. Cleopatra's Boudoir clears up the question:

Stecher’s Pompeian Massage Cream was a casein-based rolling cream that also contained benzaldehyde (artificial almond oil). It was coloured bright pink, probably with carmine, and was preserved with benzoic acid. It was pressure sensitive and was used by first rubbing it in and then rubbing it off.

After a shave the face was wiped clean with a towel and then Pompeian Massage Cream was rubbed in and then rubbed off taking any remaining soap and loose skin cells with it. This action may have helped reduce skin irritation caused by soap left on the skin and as it exfoliated the skin may also have reduced the likelihood of ingrown hairs.

As casein was a milk protein Stecher labelled Pompeian Massage Cream as a ‘skin food’. This was not illogical for the time. Back then it was thought that the skin was a good deal more porous than we know it to be today. Consequently, many believed that the skin could be ‘fed’ externally by applying a cream. In 1909 the words ‘Skin Food’ quietly disappeared from the label and the cream was primarily promoted as a cleanser that removed material that soap could not get to.

While the original Pompeian Cream seems to be long gone, a similar product that I am familiar with is Earth Theraputics Foot Peel (and yes, it is safe for the face -- at least it was on mine.)

The modern familiarity with the concept of exfoliating makes products like Pompeian cream a little less useful, but Gibson girls seemed to love its ability to both stimulate and clean the skin.

Biotique Quince Seed Anti Wrinkle Massage Cream Bio Quince ...

Post by Shinjini

The gel from the quince seed provides essential vitamins and minerals to nourish the skin. It contains Vitamin E along with other herbs. It’s especially good for mature skin in vulnerable areas – the contours of eyes, mouth, nose and neck.

Content: - The product is in the form of a thick off-white colored cream. Consistency looks like a gel but actually is creamy when applied.

Packaging: - packaging is very neat and simple. No fancy look. It comes in typical biotique products packaging. The container is quite sturdy. It’s not attractive but I won’t say I am disappointed.

Texture: - The texture of the cream is thick and whipped cream like.

I was idly surfing the net for anti ageing products for my mom when I came across this one from biotique. My mother had been asking me for a good anti-wrinkle massage cream which she could use after facial. I ordered this online through urbantouch.com. This product is for mature skin.  My mother liked this product. She uses it whenever she does facial at home. As it’s an anti wrinkle cream I stayed away from it. You can use it as day or night cream as well. The price is bit expensive but the quantity given will last for a long time. The product reduces the fine line around the eyes due to ageing. It also makes the skin firmer.  Within 3 weeks I could see the results of the product. The smell is kind of pungent but very mild. When the cream is first applied it tends to leave an oily layer but after a few minutes it’s absorbed by the skin. Regular use imparts a radiant, smooth glow to face. The result was not instant but it was certainly effective.

  1. Only a little amount is sufficient for face as well as neck.
  2. Removes dryness and maintains the balance of the skin.
  3. Makes the skin firmer.
  4. Reduces fine lines around the eyes.
  5. Gives quick result.

  1. It’s a bit expensive.
  2. Packaging is not attractive.
  3. Usage directions not provided.

I am sure this product is recommended for ageing skin especially females facing wrinkles problem. My mother is almost certain she will be buying it again once she finishes this one.

Have you tried any anti ageing skin care product from Biotique?
