Tony Moly Appletox Smooth Massage Peeling Cream - Project ...

Last Christmas, Tony Moly sent me a package that contained one of their best sellers: the Tony Moly Appletox Smooth Massage Peeling Cream (P525), cutely nicknamed as the Appletox. I've never used it until last night mainly because I'm anxious about breaking out. I've never used a Tony Moly skincare product before so I really took a chance here!

Since I had a bit of free time last night and needed to get rid of some dry skin anyway, I decided to try the Appletox. It's supposed to be a face mask-cum-exfoliator as it dries into flakes you can rub off.

How to use the product. Apply a light layer all over your face. Wait for it to dry, usually in 10 minutes or so. After drying, gently massage the mask off your face to get rid of deep-seated dirt and peeling skin. I recommend you use it only once or twice a week, but if you have really dry skin, you can definitely use it more often.

Texture. The Appletox is creamy and heavy, but it also has a runny texture for a cream poduct. I think that's a good thing since it will prevent you from over-applying. I also noticed that it's rather oily - I noticed a residue on my skin after washing it off, similar to when I use a cleansing oil.

Scent. It has a mild apple scent that I like. Not too strong or chemical.

Effect. My skin felt very smooth and moisturized after the mask-exfoliation routine. The dry, peeling skin that was bothering me also came off, too! I didn't even have to scrub vigorously since the Appletox was easily rubbed off.

Waiting for the mask to dry. It turns clear as it dries.

However, there still was a film of residue even though I meticulously washed my face with tap water. I read somewhere that you have to use warm water, so I did that and true enough, the rest of the product came off. Then I proceeded with my normal facial wash to get rid of the rest of the gunk.

When I woke up today, I found a cheerful pimple on my chin. Sigh. It could be worse, though!

What my skin looked like after. No more dry patches!

Recommendations. I recommend the Tony Moly Appletox to women (or even men) who have trouble with dry and peeling skin. It provides a good dose of moisture, softening skin and sloughing off the dead layer. However, if you have particularly sensitive skin, it's best to do a patch test first before you use it.

Verdict. It's neat. It's really for dry skin, which I don't have most of the time, so I don't think I will be using this often!
