There are many reasons why a client might be drawn to your practice. Whether it is word-of-mouth, some kind of advertisement or simply an online search that brings new clients through your door, it is you who can keep them coming back. The biggest key to making brand-new clients part of your stable and consistent client base is to provide the best possible service as a massage therapist or bodyworker.
This concept is simple enough to grasp, but what it takes to create and provide the best possible session to each and every client can be a complex matter, with many different aspects. At the core of this is the quality of your touch and your knowledge of appropriate hands-on techniques for various client issues and conditions. Beyond this, all kinds of smaller details come into play when creating an unforgettable session.
These smaller details are still an extension of you as the massage therapist or bodyworker, and therefore, it is important to put just as much thought into the products and tools that you use in your practice as you put into the quality of your touch and sophistication of your techniques. Among these details—these products and tools—one of the most critical to a successful session may be your massage cream.
If you think about it, the massage cream you use on your clients is the one thing that actually comes closer to them than your own hands. It is applied to their skin, rubbed in and absorbed throughout the
massage or bodywork session. Obviously, the massage cream you choose to use in your practice must be top notch.
First and foremost, you never want to use a massage cream that could cause an adverse client reaction, whether that reaction is simply a slight headache or other irritation or a full-blown allergy attack. For this reason, you may be wise to keep a small variety of high-quality massage creams on hand in your session room, so you will be sure to have the right one for any new client who has allergies or is otherwise sensitive to certain ingredients. Remember to complete a thorough client intake with any new clients, so you will be well aware of any allergies or sensitivities before you even step into the session room.
The next—and equally important—reason to find and use the right massage cream in your practice is because the massage cream you choose can either enhance or detract from the quality of your touch and the techniques you provide. In other words, with the right massage cream, you should be able to perform to the absolute best of your ability as a massage therapist or bodyworker. On the other hand, by choosing the wrong lubricant, you may find yourself unable to complete certain strokes as necessary, resulting in an unsatisfactory session.
